Tragic Park Incident: Man Dies After Entering Tiger Enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park

A man died after deliberately entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in northern England on Saturday, triggering an emergency response that evacuated the entire facility. South Yorkshire Police confirmed the incident occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. near Doncaster, with officers receiving the initial report at 1:35 p.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene following a fatal attack by the tiger.

Police stated the man entered the enclosure and was subsequently attacked before emergency services arrived, including two ambulances, an air ambulance, and park personnel. Visitors were evacuated, the area secured, and the tiger remained within its enclosure throughout the incident. Authorities confirmed no public safety risk existed and emphasized that the animal sustained no injuries despite initial online concerns.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park reported activating emergency protocols immediately after the incident and working with police to determine how the man entered the enclosure. The park closed for Saturday’s remainder of operations, will remain shut on Sunday, October 11, and stressed visitor, employee, and animal safety remains its top priority during ongoing investigations. Police have not yet disclosed how or why the man entered the enclosure, which is now central to their inquiry. Authorities continue urging the public not to share graphic footage circulating online as they reconstruct the timeline of events.
