Reports have surfaced suggesting Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, was living with a transgender roommate who had recently transitioned to a woman. The claims initially appeared as viral speculation but gained attention after being cited by Laura Loomer, a known figure in political discourse, and later sourced by Brooke Singman, a Fox News Digital Political Correspondent. While the validity of these reports remains unconfirmed, they have added layers of complexity to the ongoing investigation.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox revealed conflicting details about Robinson’s living arrangements during a press conference. Officials initially assumed Robinson was a student at Utah Valley University (UVU) due to photos showing him in what appeared to be a dorm room. However, Cox later clarified that Robinson did not attend UVU and instead lived with his parents in Washington County. This contradiction has fueled further scrutiny of the suspect’s background.
Investigators obtained screenshots from a Discord chat between Robinson and his roommate, which allegedly included references to retrieving a rifle from a “drop site” and admitting the weapon and scope were “unique.” The roommate reportedly treated the conversation as a joke, unaware of its severity. A family member of Robinson later contacted authorities, revealing he had confessed or implied involvement in the incident.
Surveillance footage identified Robinson arriving on UVU campus on September 10 in a gray Dodge Challenger, wearing clothing matching his appearance at the time of the shooting. His roommate confirmed the vehicle’s existence and provided investigators with screenshots of messages discussing the rifle. The gun, later recovered wrapped in a dark towel, was a Mauser model 98 30-06 bolt-action rifle with a scope. Bullet casings found alongside the weapon bore engravings such as “Notices, bulges,” “Hey, fascist!”, and “If you read this, you are gay LMAO.”
The case continues to unfold as authorities piece together Robinson’s movements and motives.
