Son of Kentucky Senator Accused of Antisemitic Remarks at DC Bar

William Paul, the adult son of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), faces accusations of hurling antisemitic insults at Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) during a heated exchange at a Washington, D.C., bar on Tuesday night.

According to NOTUS reporter Reese Gorman, William Paul interrupted Lawler’s conversation with the outlet, claiming that if Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) loses his primary race, it would be due to “your people.” When Lawler questioned whether he was Jewish, Paul replied: “Oh wow, I’m so sorry for calling you a Jew.” He later stated Jews were “anti-American” and that Lawler and his supporters served Israel more than America.

Lawler described the incident in a phone conversation, recalling Paul’s insistence that the conflict involved “gays and Jews,” adding: “This war, it’s all about the gays and the Jews, and I hate them both.” Lawler emphasized he is Irish-Italian Catholic, saying: “Do you think I’m Jewish? I’m not.”

The exchange occurred in full view of a reporter, with William Paul reportedly telling Lawler to “watch more Tucker Carlson” and claiming Massie and Sen. Paul were the only lawmakers who care about the U.S. William Paul did not respond to requests for comment, while Sen. Paul’s office declined to address the incident. Rep. Massie, a close ally of Sen. Paul in Kentucky’s delegation, is running against a Trump-backed primary challenger.

William Paul referenced Paul Singer, a major donor supporting a pro-Massie super PAC that has run an ad featuring Singer with a rainbow Star of David. Lawler declined to provide further comment on the interaction.
