Lara Trump: “I Would Run for U.S. Senate Twice” as She Hints at Broader Trump Family Ambitions

President Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, hinted on Miranda Devine’s “Pod Force One” podcast that members of the Trump family may seek political office in the future.

During the appearance, Lara Trump stated she has considered running for the U.S. Senate twice. “I have looked at my father-in-law over the past eleven, almost twelve years now, and I’ve watched the impact that he’s been able to make in people’s lives and it’s amazing,” she said. “Look, he’s dealt with immense challenges, right? He has gone through so much.”

She added that her father-in-law’s influence has inspired her family to consider politics: “So it’s really inspired me, and I think it’s inspired everyone in our family, so much so that I’d consider running for a possible Senate seat. So I would never say never to anything. What I do feel like, and whether it’s for Donald Trump running, who thought about running for president for a long time before he actually did, or a Senate run, or whatever it might be for me or anyone in our family, I think the timing has to be right.”

Lara Trump noted she did not succeed in 2022 and would have needed a better opportunity in 2025. “It didn’t work out for me in 2022, it didn’t work out for me in 2025,” she said. “Just the timing had to be right.”

She further stated that her family has “dipped their toe in the water of politics” enough to know political involvement is a possibility for many: “I would say that at this point, we’ve all kind of dipped our toe in the water of politics enough to know that it’s something that I think possibly interests many of us in our family.”

When asked about how President Trump responded to her potential political ambitions, Lara Trump said: “I don’t think I’ve had a bigger champion in running for a Senate seat than my father-in-law.” She described her father-in-law as calling her multiple times a week to recommend candidates: “In fact, so much so, that he would call me multiple times a week with multiple people from different backgrounds to say, ‘This person thinks you’d be great. You got to do it.’”

The interview also addressed the potential of Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump entering office. Neither has publicly confirmed plans for the presidential race but have both indicated they remain open to possibilities.

Donald Trump Jr., speaking last May, mentioned a future presidential run: “I don’t know, maybe one day… that calling is there.” He added: “I think my father has truly changed the Republican Party. I think it’s the America First party now, the MAGA party.”

Eric Trump later stated he sees an “easy” path for a family dynasty after his father leaves office.
