The FBI has released over one hundred documents related to the 2023 Covenant Christian School shooting that killed six individuals. Among these materials is a notebook belonging to Audrey Hale, who identified as a transgender man and was the shooter in the incident.
In the notebook, Hale documented pros and cons for several schools before selecting Covenant Christian School for her attack. The notes explicitly state: “Predominantly white school (white pple I hate!!)” and “Christian School (hate religion)”.
The documents further reveal Hale used federal student loans to purchase firearms involved in the shooting. Records show FAFSA grant checks starting at $2,050.86 were processed through Nossi College of Art and Design in Nashville. Hale’s parents had previously informed investigators that their child utilized federal Pell Grant funds to acquire the weapons used during the attack.
