Critical Injury Reported After Border Patrol Shooting in Southern Arizona

This morning, one person was critically injured after a shooting incident involving U.S. Border Patrol in Pima County, Arizona.

At this time, it is unclear what led up to the incident. The unidentified individual who was shot has been transported to the hospital in critical condition.

According to a statement from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred near milepost 15 of West Arivaca Road at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The person was taken by the Santa Rita Fire District to a medical facility in critical condition.

The sheriff’s office confirmed it is working with the FBI and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to investigate the shooting.

It has not been determined whether any law enforcement personnel were injured in the incident.

A statement from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office described the location as an unincorporated community in southern Pima County, about 10 miles north of the Mexican border.

The sheriff’s office noted that it is coordinating with the FBI Phoenix-Tuscon Office and U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the investigation.
