Dodgers Reliever Honors Late Conservative Activist with Symbolic Tribute During Game

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen paid tribute to conservative activist Charlie Kirk during Friday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants by wearing a cap featuring Kirk’s name alongside a cross. The gesture occurred as Treinen entered the ninth inning, drawing attention from fans who noticed the message on his headwear.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot Wednesday during a campus event at Utah Valley University. He was struck by a single bullet and later declared dead. Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident, was arrested as a suspect in the killing. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox disclosed that a family member of Robinson contacted authorities with claims the suspect had confessed to the incident.

Other sports teams also honored Kirk following his death. The Green Bay Packers observed a moment of silence for him before their game against the Washington Commanders on Thursday night. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was a prominent ally of former President Donald Trump, who condemned his assassination on social media and announced plans to posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
