I’ve built one of my favorite elements into the Logan Hollister books: a fictional newsroom that now has a real-world counterpart you can visit.

Today, that website reported the first death from Book 2.

Yes, we’re talking about a fictional murder in my next novel, The Rival. But the website, its articles, and your ability to follow along are very real.

The fictional newsroom from my novels is now a functioning site in real life: WLTLH. It features its own newsroom, staff bylines, articles, and an archive. You can click around and read the coverage as though you’re living in the same city as Logan.

This is the signal: when new killings start showing up on WLTLH, a new Logan Hollister book is getting closer.

The first story involves Raymond Delgado, whose retirement gala at the Ashworth Grand Pacific turned tragic. Four hundred guests, a champagne toast — an evening that was supposed to end with applause.

I’m having a ridiculous amount of fun with this. You get to see the news break, then return as reporting continues and new pieces emerge — all before the novel launches.

This works in both directions. If you’ve read The Confessor, there’s more waiting for you on the site: the aftermath keeps unfolding with court coverage and fallout from cases.

I’m already through Chapter 17 of The Rival, with a November 1 release planned. More news posts and investigative follow-ups are coming over the next few days.
