A 27-year-old Colorado man lost his life Sunday after his vehicle drove over the edge of Arizona’s Grand Canyon National Park, sending him plummeting hundreds of feet to his death.
National Park Service (NPS) rangers received a call around 12:40 p.m. about a single-occupant vehicle that had fallen near the South Kaibab Trailhead. Responders recovered the man’s body 300 feet below the rim, with a helicopter later airlifting it to the surface for transport to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The deceased was identified as Steven “Drew” Bradley of Federal Heights, Colorado. Authorities have not disclosed details about how the vehicle left the roadway but included contact information for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (988 or 1-800-273-TALK) in their statement.
The NPS is conducting an investigation into the incident. No further information has been released at this time.
