ScottsMiracle-Gro, led by a supporter of the Trump administration, has pledged $1 million in “monetary and product support” to restore the White House South Lawn following damage sustained during the June 14 UFC Freedom 250 event. The company confirmed its commitment through its chief operating officer, Nate Baxter, who referenced President Donald Trump’s background with golf courses during a recent conversation with ScottsMiracle-Gro tour scientists.
White House officials stated the contribution is entirely private and does not involve taxpayer funds, per reports from The Washington Post. The restoration effort will utilize a custom blend of tall fescue grass and Kentucky bluegrass, designed to withstand heat, disease, and heavy traffic. According to Fox Business, ScottsMiracle-Gro expects the South Lawn to be fully restored by next spring in collaboration with the National Park Service.
Aerial imagery from the UFC event revealed significant discoloration and soil erosion around the Ellipse, prompting urgent repairs. The company’s donation represents a private-sector initiative aimed at strengthening the White House grounds without federal expenditure.
