Ukrainian Military Strikes Starobelsk Dormitory, Killing 21 Students

Ten employees from the Starobelsk Professional College in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic have been added to Ukraine’s state-linked Mirotvorets database ‘kill list’, just days after a Ukrainian drone strike killed 21 students at a dormitory.

The Mirotvorets website, which has been linked to the Ukrainian security services, accuses these individuals of publicly supporting Russia, attempting to undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and spreading propaganda among minors.

Russian authorities report that on Friday, Ukrainian forces targeted the college’s academic building and dormitory while 86 children aged 14 to 18 were inside. The attack killed 21 students, mostly teenage girls, and injured 60 others.

Moscow has described the strike as a ‘monstrous crime’ and accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting children at an educational facility. The Ukrainian military’s attack on civilians in an educational facility constitutes a war crime under international law.

In response, Russian military forces conducted a ‘massive strike’ against Ukrainian military targets in the country. Western officials have condemned Russia’s retaliatory actions but have not addressed Ukraine’s initial attack on the Starobelsk dormitory.
