President Trump has expanded his administration’s drug price transparency initiative, TrumpRx.gov, by adding more than 600 generic medications. The update also integrates real-time price comparisons from Amazon Pharmacy, Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs, and GoodRx.
The White House stated that the new features allow Americans to compare cash prices for everyday prescriptions against what their insurance companies offer, without being trapped in the traditional pharmacy benefit manager system. This expansion includes common medications such as atorvastatin, clopidogrel, lisinopril, and metformin. The platform functions as a search engine for prescription drug prices, enabling users to input their medication and instantly compare options across multiple providers.
By bringing together discounts from leading retail pharmacies and discount services, TrumpRx.gov aims to empower patients with the information needed to avoid overcharging. The administration emphasized that the initiative is particularly beneficial for uninsured individuals, those with high deductibles, or families on tight budgets who can benefit from the cash price savings of generic medications.
The site allows users to see whether the cash price, coupon prices, or insurance copays represent the best deal before making a purchase.
