World’s Largest Christian TV Network Founder Joni Lamb Passes Away

Joni Lamb, president and co-founder of Daystar Television Network, one of the world’s largest Christian television networks, has passed away.

In a statement released by Daystar, Lamb was described as having faced serious health challenges that she handled “in private” prior to her recent back injury. The injury compounded these issues, leading to an unexpected medical deterioration despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and widespread prayers from around the globe. Her condition worsened in the final days before passing.

Lamb founded Daystar Television Network alongside her late husband Marcus in 1993. Under her leadership, the network expanded into one of the largest Christian television networks globally, reaching viewers across nearly every country through satellite, cable, streaming, and digital platforms. She spent nearly four decades on-air and behind the scenes, building a ministry that brought the Gospel to millions.

Daystar Television shared: “With heavy hearts, we share the news that Joni Lamb graduated to Heaven this morning. We know that she is in the presence of Jesus, reunited with Marcus, and receiving her reward for a beautiful life lived in surrender to the Lord.”

The network is based in Bedford, Texas—a suburb between Dallas and Fort Worth. Daystar’s Board of Directors praised Lamb’s faith and leadership, stating: “Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning. We grieve her loss and are grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind.”

Lamb and Marcus launched their television ministry with WMCF-TV in Montgomery, Alabama in 1985, operating under the name “45 Alive.” They sold that station in 1990 before moving to a larger station in Dallas and launching KMPX-TV 29 in 1993. They later expanded to form Daystar TV Network in 1998.

Marcus passed away in 2021 after 39 years of marriage. Lamb remarried in 2023 to Dr. Doug Weiss, who joined her as a co-host on Daystar.

The network stated that its mission remains unchanged and programming will proceed as scheduled with on-air tributes following in the coming days.
