The Israeli government has announced plans for a four-day LGBT “pride” event near the site widely believed to be where ancient Sodom was destroyed by God due to its citizens’ sexual immorality. The festival, described as the largest in the Middle East, will include children’s activities.

This announcement follows reports that an Israel Defense Forces soldier recently smashed a statue of the crucified Christ outside a church with a sledgehammer.
