“The View” host Joy Behar sparked a heated exchange on Tuesday when she attempted to correct a co-host’s interpretation of Jesus Christ’s ministry, drawing sharp rebuttals from panelist Sara Haines during discussions about Donald Trump’s social media posts.
The debate erupted as the panel analyzed an AI-generated image Trump had shared—depicting himself in white and red robes with light emanating from his hands—a post he later deleted after claiming it was meant to portray him “as a doctor.” Behar insisted Jesus Christ “did not run around saying, ‘I’m the Messiah, I’m the Messiah’” while amassing apostles, arguing that the figure portrayed in Trump’s image displayed narcissism.
Haines countered directly: “When you are the Messiah, it’s not narcissism to say it!” Behar maintained, “Yes, it is,” before the panel briefly fell silent as laughter followed. Later, moderator Whoopi Goldberg interjected, stating: “The Pope has God with him. God will take care of this. God will take care of him.” She added while addressing Trump directly, “Nobody believes you were a doctor. Nobody. Not even your people.”
The segment drew immediate social media criticism for Behar’s insistence that Jesus lacked Trump’s self-identification as Messiah, though the exchange centered solely on theological interpretation and Trump’s deleted post.
