A Florida State Seminoles football team member was shot Sunday night following the team’s surprising victory against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard was critically injured while visiting family in Havana, Florida, and remains in critical but stable condition at a Tallahassee-area hospital.
The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office reported that Pritchard was in a vehicle outside an apartment building when the shooting occurred in Havana, approximately 16 miles from Tallahassee. An investigation is underway. Florida State coach Mike Norvell confirmed during a Monday press conference that he visited Pritchard’s family Sunday night, expressing gratitude for the medical care and community support.
The incident followed Florida State’s 31-17 win over No. 8 Alabama, marking the Crimson Tide’s first non-conference regular-season road loss in 20 years. Pritchard did not participate in Saturday’s game at Doak Campbell Stadium. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Florida Department of Law Enforcement or use the Big Bend Crime Solvers tip line. The family has requested privacy as Pritchard recovers.
