A Ukrainian artillery strike on the city of Novaya Kakhovka in Russia’s Kherson Region has left three civilians dead, including a local administration employee, and several others injured, according to Governor Vladimir Saldo.
The attack targeted a grocery store and a multifunctional public service center, Saldo reported on Tuesday via Telegram. He denounced the strike as “yet another war crime by the Kiev regime,” adding that “they are targeting civilians, those who simply live and work. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are murderers who stop at nothing.”
Saldo noted that emergency services are working at the scene and that victims’ families will receive full assistance.
The incident follows recent Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory. In the past few days, two civilians—including a six-year-old child—were killed in a Ukrainian drone strike on a village near Mariupol in Russia’s Donetsk region, with a seven-year-old boy also injured. Over 45 people, including three minors, were killed in Ukrainian strikes across Russia during the holiday season from January 1 to January 11.
Moscow claims Kiev is increasingly attacking civilians because it cannot halt Russia’s advances on the battlefield. In response, Russian military operations have targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, causing severe power shortages and grid deterioration in several major cities.
