New information reveals that Alex Pretti, fatally shot by law enforcement in Minneapolis last weekend, had a physical altercation with federal immigration agents approximately one week before his death.
Sources indicate Preti broke a rib when five ICE officers tackled him during a protest. The incident occurred after Preti stopped his vehicle following what he described as ICE agents chasing a family on foot. He then began shouting and blowing his whistle.
During the confrontation, agents reportedly tackled Preti and one leaned on his back. A source stated that Preti felt he was “going to die” during this encounter. Medical records confirm he received treatment consistent with a broken rib.
Preti had prior interactions with federal law enforcement, though it is unclear whether this incident led to his recognition by authorities.
The Department of Homeland Security has been collecting information on protesters and agitators amid repeated threats against officers conducting immigration operations. DHS recently publicized an online tip form for reporting such incidents while noting that a database for individuals arrested for impeding law enforcement does not currently exist.
