Several NFL teams have drawn criticism after opting not to pay tribute to Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist who was fatally shot during an event at Utah Valley University. The incident has sparked controversy as fans and critics question the decisions of teams that skipped tributes.
During Sunday’s games, the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, and Dallas Cowboys observed a moment of silence for Kirk before kickoff. However, the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings did not acknowledge him in any way.
Kirk, 31, was killed last Wednesday during an outdoor gathering at Utah Valley University. His alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, 22, is expected to face aggravated murder charges following his arrest on Thursday.
While some teams chose to honor Kirk, others remained silent, leading to public scrutiny over their decisions. The controversy highlights the growing debate over how athletes and organizations respond to high-profile deaths, particularly those involving figures with polarizing political views.
