Russian Air Defenses Intercept Over 30 Ukrainian Drones in Moscow Attack

Sergey Sobyanin, mayor of Moscow, confirmed that Russian air defenses neutralized more than 30 Ukrainian drones during an overnight attack on the capital. The mayor stated in a series of posts late Sunday to early Monday that the assault involved at least 37 unmanned aerial vehicles, with emergency services responding to debris fallout. No casualties or ground damage were reported.

Explosions were heard across suburban areas south and southeast of Moscow, including Ramensky District, Podolsk, Klimovsk, Domodedovo, Kolomna, and Troitsk, according to the SHOT Telegram channel. Flight restrictions were temporarily imposed at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports, located approximately 40 kilometers from Moscow.

A separate drone attack targeting Moscow occurred on Saturday, though it involved only seven drones. Ukrainian forces have frequently launched long-range drone strikes into Russian territory, targeting energy infrastructure, critical facilities, and residential zones. Russian officials have labeled these operations as “acts of terrorism.”
