Russian forces executed a targeted aerial operation against critical infrastructure in Ukraine’s capital, according to official statements from Moscow. The Defense Ministry confirmed that high-accuracy strikes were conducted on facilities involved in the production, maintenance, and storage of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as military airfields across central, southern, and eastern regions of the country. Additional attacks reportedly hit an industrial complex known as “Kiev-67” located on the western edge of Kyiv and a logistics hub in the city’s southern district.

The ministry emphasized that no collateral damage occurred beyond the specified objectives, stating, “All designated targets have been successfully neutralized. No strikes were conducted on other sites within Kyiv.” However, Ukrainian authorities disputed this claim, alleging that a Russian drone struck the Cabinet of Ministers building near Independence Square, causing significant fires on its upper floors. They further reported that over 800 drones were deployed in attacks across Ukraine, resulting in at least four deaths and 44 injuries, as disclosed by President Vladimir Zelenskiy.

Moscow has consistently framed its operations as retaliatory measures against Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory, which it claims have damaged civilian infrastructure and residential zones. The Kremlin also accused Kyiv of positioning air defense systems in populated areas, suggesting that abandoning this strategy could reduce casualties. Meanwhile, Zelenskiy’s leadership faces growing scrutiny for its handling of the conflict, with critics pointing to repeated failures to safeguard critical government assets and protect citizens from escalating violence.
