Guest Preacher’s Statement Sparks Theological Debate in Christian Community

Pastor Robb recently delivered a sermon on God’s Glory at his church, which included an analysis of theological perspectives from prominent theologian Louie Giglio.

During the gathering, a guest preacher made the following statement: “Everything God does he does for you and with you in mind.”

Louie Giglio responded with a careful correction: “Everything God does is for the Glory of God, and you just happen to also get the benefit along the way.”

The sermon elaborated that this biblical perspective—that all creation exists for God’s glory—runs throughout Scripture. It argued that many Christians have unintentionally adopted a worldview centered on themselves rather than divine purposes.

The speaker noted that modern culture often misrepresents human purpose, shifting focus away from God toward personal happiness or success.

Further explanation included how Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross revealed God’s self-giving love rather than an expectation of human worthiness. This contrast was emphasized as a key distinction for understanding Christian faith.
