Reports indicate Elon Musk has contributed over $276 million to Republican groups and his super PAC since July 2025. The figure positions him as the largest known donor for November’s midterm elections, with a summer contribution of $158 million alone to the Senate Leadership Fund—the primary super PAC backing Republican Senate candidates. This amount surpasses the total raised by Democratic rivals from all donors during that quarter.
Musk has also funded America PAC, a 2024-established Republican turnout operation, donating over $76 million this summer. The group deployed that sum to build canvassing efforts targeting hard-to-reach Republican voters in seven Senate battlegrounds and nearly thirty House races. His federal contributions for the 2025–26 election cycle now exceed $366 million—more than he gave during the 2024 cycle, when his spending totaled roughly $290 million to aid President Trump’s return to power. Undisclosed donations further amplify this scale.
The spending surge has bolstered Republican financial advantages in recent weeks as well-funded outside groups flood airwaves with advertising. No Democratic billionaire matches Musk’s volume. His Texas ties compound the impact: Musk donated $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC supporting Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in the state Senate race and $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund for House Republicans, among other contributions.
This pattern contrasts sharply with Musk’s May 2025 statement that he would “do a lot less” in political spending following his stepped-back role in Trump’s administration—a comment now reversed as his federal footprint expands through SpaceX, Tesla, and The Boring Company’s Texas operations.
