By now you’ve almost certainly heard that Bret Michaels and Martina McBride have withdrawn from performing at the Freedom250 concert celebrating America’s 250th birthday.
Michaels stated he was initially presented with an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event meant to celebrate all 50 states. However, after learning the event had evolved into something more divisive than originally described, he decided to step away from the performance. In his statement, Michaels emphasized that concerns about the safety of fans, band members, crew, family, and himself led to his withdrawal decision.
He also noted that his career has always focused on bringing people together through music and positivity, not politics. Michaels expressed confidence in returning to Washington, D.C. under circumstances where the focus would remain on music and community.
Martina McBride similarly withdrew from the event, stating she had been assured it was nonpartisan but later found it did not align with what was promised.
