In a tense confrontation in Garland, Texas, a father drew his legally owned firearm to protect his family from an armed carjacker who had previously smashed into two vehicles.
According to police reports, the suspect targeted a white Chevrolet Impala parked near Highway 66 and Dairy Road. The individual, described as a Hispanic male, had already been involved in collisions with two other cars before attempting to force entry into the vehicle containing the father, several children, and two adult women.
The father fired multiple rounds at the suspect, who later died in a hospital after sustaining fatal injuries. All passengers escaped without injury.
The father remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and surrendered his firearm to law enforcement.
Taylor Stanfield, a resident of Garland with 13 years in the area, shared his concerns: “It’s definitely very concerning,” he stated. “My kids are playing outside all the time, my wife is out there with them, and if somebody like this were able to drive away in that vehicle, who knows what could have happened?”
Police confirmed the investigation remains active with no charges filed at the time of reporting.
