Federal Judge Apologizes to Suspect in Trump Assassination Attempt Over Prison Conditions

DC Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui has apologized to Cole Allen, the suspect charged with attempting to assassinate President Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner incident.

The apology followed the judge’s expressed grave concern over Allen’s prison conditions, which include being placed on suicide watch by the Department of Corrections after he reportedly told FBI agents he did not expect to survive the night of the attack.

Allen has been confined in restrictive 24-hour housing without windows, in a padded room, and with no access for recreation. Judge Faruqui noted that Allen had requested meetings with his legal team and a Bible, neither of which were granted.

The judge directed the Department of Corrections to provide answers regarding housing conditions by tomorrow morning, emphasizing his deep concern for Allen’s constitutional rights.
