Molotov Cocktail Thrown at OpenAI CEO’s Home; Suspect Arrested by San Francisco Police

San Francisco police have arrested a suspect for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at the home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, with no injuries reported.

The incident occurred after officers responded to a residence in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood at 4:12 a.m. Friday “regarding a fire investigation.” Police confirmed that no injuries were reported and the suspect is now in custody.

In a blog post on his website, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared a photo of his family and wrote: “Here is a photo of my family. I love them more than anything.” He added that he shared the image to dissuade others from throwing Molotov cocktails at his home, stating: “Normally we try to be pretty private, but in this case I am sharing a photo in the hopes that it might dissuade the next person from throwing a Molotov cocktail at our house, no matter what they think about me.”

OpenAI stated that thankfully no one was injured and they are assisting law enforcement with the investigation.
