The scenes in Minneapolis are growing increasingly chaotic. A large group of anti-ICE protesters has taken over the street where a Border Patrol agent shot and killed a 37-year-old man who violently resisted arrest and was found in possession of a firearm.
Following an incident in south Minneapolis on Wednesday, protesters erected makeshift barricades using chairs, trash cans, wood shipping pallets, bicycles, and other materials to create what has been labeled the “Minneapolis Autonomous Zone.” The area remains under agitator control with no police presence observed nearby.
The shooting occurred during an ICE enforcement operation when Renee Good allegedly used her vehicle as a weapon after hitting a Border Patrol agent, prompting the agent to fire in self-defense.
The Minneapolis Police Department was absent from the block where Wednesday’s incident unfolded, allowing agitators to seize control of the street and erect barricades that kept others out of the area.
