A Montana Democrat city commissioner candidate left a disturbing voicemail for Republican Senator Tim Sheehy, expressing violent and personal threats. The incident occurred in July after Sheehy supported the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a tax and spending package that drew sharp criticism from progressive activists.
Haley McKnight, a Helena city commission candidate, left the voicemail on July 1, addressing Sheehy as a “coward and thief” and accusing him of stripping healthcare from 17 million Americans. The recording obtained by Fox News Digital includes explicit threats, such as wishing Sheehy to die from pancreatic cancer and declaring, “I hope you die in the street like a dog.” McKnight also targeted Sheehy’s personal life, suggesting he become infertile and vowing to confront him physically if they met.
Sheehy’s office confirmed the voicemail was received at 1:10 pm MT on July 1. McKnight, a progressive small business owner and president of Helena Young Professionals, is running for a seat on the Helena City Commission. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation for its explicit nature and personal attacks.
