Controversial Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene Set for “The View” Appearance Amid Political Backlash

Whoopi Goldberg revealed this week that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) will join “The View” next week, sparking immediate controversy. During an episode of the show on Wednesday, Goldberg remarked, “People in Washington are starting to say ‘my constituents.’ You know, they’re starting to remember why they’re there,” before confirming Greene’s appearance.

Goldberg emphasized shared concerns about the government shutdown, stating, “The one thing that she and I and all of us at this table agree on is this should not be affecting the American people.” Greene responded with enthusiasm, saying, “I look forward to joining the ladies on The View on Tuesday!”

The hosts of “The View,” including Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro, faced backlash earlier this month after praising Greene. Goldberg called her a “very surprising voice of reason,” while Behar noted Greene’s personal stake in healthcare costs, saying, “I’ll take it.”

Greene clarified her stance on Obamacare in a social media post, stating she is “not a fan” of the policy and explaining that expiring tax credits would double insurance premiums for her adult children and constituents. She later accused “pathetic Republican men” of attacking her for appearing on “The View,” asserting, “I’m 1,000,000% America ONLY.”

Her appearance has drawn criticism from within the GOP. House Speaker Mike Johnson dismissed her comments, while Sen. Ted Cruz labeled her as becoming “very liberal” and urged others to ignore her remarks. Cruz claimed Greene’s positions on Israel, government spending, and immigration signal a shift toward progressive policies.

The Georgia Republican’s decision to join “The View” has intensified scrutiny, with some noting the show’s historically critical stance toward Trump and the GOP. Greene, a long-time ally of Trump’s MAGA movement, recently criticized Republican plans for healthcare tax credits, U.S. aid to Israel, and the Justice Department’s handling of Jeffrey Epstein cases.
